This taonga was scanned and provided to NZLII by Puke Ariki Library and Museum. They believe it was owned by local farmer and former Māori Constable George Taylor, also known as Hori Teira (1845-1935), who may have referred to it during several Land Court cases that he was involved with – many to do with Parihaka. There is a handwritten annotation “G Taylor 3 Hune 1894” inside and some intriguing marginalia sprinkled throughout.
