CONSISTENCY WITH THE NEW ZEALAND BILL OF RIGHTS ACT 1990: Crimes (Repeal of Seditious Offences) Amendment Bill 2007/120-1

1. I have reviewed this Bill for consistency with the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990. The Bill repeals the offence of sedition, seditious conspiracy and making or publishing seditious statements under ss 81-85 of the Crimes Act 1961.

2. No issue arises under the Bill of Rights Act in respect of the Bill.

3. This advice has been peer reviewed, in accordance with Crown Law Office protocol, by Val
