Consistency with the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990: Standards and Accreditation Bill

1. We have considered whether the Standards and Accreditation Legislation Bill (‘the Bill’) is consistent with the rights and freedoms affirmed in the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990 (‘the Bill of Rights Act’).
   
2. The Bill updates the Acts concerning the Standards Council and the Testing Laboratory Registration Council, which are both Crown entities. The Bill's primary purpose is to modernise and simplify the governance arrangements of the entities by separating their governance and technical advisory functions.
   
3. We have concluded that the Bill appears to be consistent with the rights and freedoms affirmed in the Bill of Rights Act.
