PARENTAL LEAVE AND EMPLOYMENT PROTECTION ACT 1987 - SECT 10
Date of commencement of primary carer leave
Primary carer leave begins,
— a) in the case of a child born to the employee, on the date of
confinement; or
aa) in the case of an employee who is a primary carer under
section 7(1)(b)(iii) , on the date, within a reasonable period after the
date on which the employee becomes the primary carer in respect of the child,
that the employee and the employer agree upon; or
b) in any other case, on
the date on which the employee becomes the primary carer in respect of the
child; or
c) on such earlier date— i) as is determined in accordance with
section 11 or section 12 or section 13 ; or
ii) as is appointed by the
employer pursuant to section 14 .
